Fun Page!

One of our listeners suggested we have a page where we post pictures of where we live, where we've been and some of the places we talk about. What a great idea! Drop us some suggestions on what you'd like to see on this page.

The C.O.W.boys were given permission by their wives (only because they went with them), to go to the Calgary Stampede. What a blast!

The two handsome fellers at the Calgary Stampede Park enterance.

By the warm reception they received from the RCMP, the C.O.W.boy's reputation obviously preceded their arrival.

The Chuckwagon Races were the highlight of the whole trip. Here you see them at the start... then all heck breaks loose!

You asked for it, so here they are! The infamous dual "Full Nelson Shoeing" pictures. Poor horse will never be the same!

There's the "Full Nelson Shoeing", with "Duke" in the foreground. The ever talented Stuart Johnson took these great pics.

And of course, every good photographer must take a reverse angle shot. Sorry 'bout that.

... and just so you can wash that last image out of your mind, here's part of Jim's remuda out at the Flying U!

Andy & Jim Nelson Named "DJ’s of the Year"... Again!

Albuquerque NM:

Whoever said lightning can’t strike twice in the same place, was mistaken. At the 18th Annual Western Music Association Awards Show in Albuquerque NM, Andy and Jim Nelson, the "C.O.W.boys" and co-hosts of "Clear Out West" Radio Show, were presented with the "DJ of the Year" award.

Lightning did indeed strike again but this time through a different organization. Two years ago, the Nelson brothers were honored with the "DJ of the Year" award from the Academy of Western Artists and this year, the Western Music Association bestowed this great honor upon them again. On Friday, November 17th, 2006, the brothers found themselves on the stage, at the very same awards show they were hosting, only this time to be handed the beautiful crystal trophies engraved with their names.

The Nelson brothers have been producing and hosting their popular radio show "Clear Out West", for nearly four years from Pinedale Wyoming and are heard by folks through out the western U.S. and on the world wide web. "What a tremendously humbling experience this was" the brothers noted of their award, "to be voted this honor by our peers is an experience that can leave even us speechless"!

In addition the hardware the brothers jointly brought home, Andy, a Cowboy Poet, was also named the "Male Poet of the Year" at the same ceremony. "I was honored to have been voted to the top five list of poets from which the winner would be chosen", Andy mentioned, "but when they read my name as the recipient, that feeling of accomplishment turned to shock, I couldn’t believe it".

It was an amazing weekend for the small-town brothers who grew up in Oakley Idaho, but was not without challenge either as Jim was detained in the security area of the airport when his lead crystal trophy showed up on the x-ray machine. After assuring that Jim was not a terrorist and after all the dust cleared, the brothers flew home with their awards. But if the truth were told, they really didn’t need to take a commercial flight home, they could have floated all the way back to Wyoming!
